About the owners

Since 2021, Cristina, her husband Luis, and their cherished niece, Vivina, have been the dynamic trio behind Café Sagrado. This dream was born from a humble stand, back in 2017 while Cristina was still committed to her full-time role at a nonprofit, her ambition fueled by the simple yet profound desire to nourish others. Soon, their venture evolved into a cart nestled within the tight-knit John Dunn shops community. When the chance to establish a permanent location presented itself, they seized it without hesitation.

Cristina and her family are a part of the Taos community, establishing the well-known Coyote Moon over 18 years ago. Cristina's roots trace back to Chihuahua, thanks to her parents who instilled in her a deep appreciation for her Mexican heritage. They ensured that she never lost sight of her cultural origins, often spending entire summers immersed in the vibrant life of Chihuahua.

Raised in Santa Ana, California, amidst a thriving Mexican community, Cristina yearned to cultivate a similar atmosphere in Taos. Their mission extends beyond sharing their rich culture; they aspire to create a space where the community can come together, relish in shared experiences, and foster a collective cultural consciousness.

Cafe Sagrado Taos

Welcome to our charming café, nestled in the vibrant heart of Taos, a stone's throw away from landmarks such as the Taos Art Museum at Fechin House, Harwood Museum of Art, and the Historic Taos Inn. As a local favorite, we offer a cozy space in the Downtown Taos Historic District on Paseo del Pueblo Sur, providing you with the best coffee, baked goods, and much more.

As an independent coffee shop, we pride ourselves on being a family-owned, women-operated, and Latina owned business that deeply respects our Mexican community. We are proud to be a part of the BIPOC owned businesses that contribute to the rich tapestry of Taos. We source our coffee from Aroma Coffee in Santa Fe, making sure that it is ethically sourced, fair trade, and when possible, women owned. We believe in the power of small businesses and the importance of shopping local. We hold ourselves to our commitment to locally sourced ingredients and seasonal items. Our café is not just a place to get your coffee fix but a hub where the community comes together.
